Through his peace activism Forest worked closely with Dorothy Day, Thomas Merton and Daniel Berrigan. In 1988 he was received into the Orthodox Church and became secretary of the Orthodox Peace Fellowship. Jim Forest, activist, author and International Secretary of the Orthodox Peace Fellowship will be on a speaking tour in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London in between 8 - 13 December.įorest, who helped to found the Catholic Peace Fellowship in the USA in the late 1960s was also part of the Catholic Worker Movement and between 1977 - 1988, General Secretary of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation.
